Sara Winikoff, DVM
For more than 20 years, Dr. Sara Winikoff has been taking care of animals with a unique blend of compassion and commitment. Her specialties include feral cat care, compassionate geriatric and cancer care, acupuncture and preventative care.
Throughout her career, she has worked with numerous non-profits on a range of issues including spaying and neutering, rescue, animal rights, and peaceful cohabitation of species. Dr. Winikoff is also an internationally recognized expert witness, testifying on behalf of captive wildlife in zoos, circuses and laboratories, which has led to their release. You may recognize her from frequent appearances on local and regional news on issues such as feral cat care, pet store and puppy mills problems, and raw diets.
In addition to graduating from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, she has studied veterinary acupuncture and herbology at the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and spent time in South Africa through an NIH grant. Dr. Winikoff was also a first responder to aid after the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11 and in India after the 2004 tsunami.
Prior to her veterinary career, she was involved in theatre in both New York and Chicago after receiving her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University.
When not working, Dr. Winikoff and her children enjoy Yankee games, vegan cooking, skiing, horseback riding, scuba diving, swimming and the companionship of 3 cats.
Leonel Namnum, DVM
Dr. Leo Namnum is a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña in the Dominican Republic. Since very young, Leo has shown interest in animals' well-being and always said he would be a veterinarian. He would spend some of his school summers rotating at his pet’s hospital. He currently continues to grow and learn from Dr. Winikoff in daily practice, while studying for the boards. Dr. Namnum is very compassionate about all the patients big and small alike. We are so happy to have him on staff; we invite you to get to know Dr. Leo!
